  • life!

It is so crazy how quickly time passes. I can't believe it is august already! It has been quite the summer and I am looking forward to the beginning of another school year.

Most of my summer has been spent either in Missouri, on my parent's couch (honestly I am a counch warmer), or in Azusa. It has been fun relaxing and pretty darn productive. Including a lot of homework. On the homework note, it is a little sad to think about how much of my summer has been spent on this but it is cool because it means less work during the year! yay! And since I only have four classes and a capstone standing between me and graduation I am feeling pretty motivated ... so motivated in fact that I started my capstone! So here it is a very a rough outline and beginning to my capstone. Lots of things still need to be added/ edited but at least you can see what I have started .... if you want. It is somewhat boring - mainly I have posted a lot of pictures and a few random assignments. But I welcome whatever feedback you all want to share!

23 days until I move home - but who is counting?!?

  • Just a funny little story for you all ...

I have regularly been taking my dog running with me this summer. She has been a great companion and we have enjoyed some great runs together and have developed a standard running route. Recently I decided to take her on an early morning run with me and as we left I realized I was feeling pretty sluggish and tired so we opted for a new route, a shorter route. The shorter route we selected involved primarily residential streets. The run was going well when all of a sudden I realized that it was trash day. Normally this wouldn't bother me while I was running but when you are running with 105 lb yellow lab it makes a huge difference .... why you ask? Because everyonce in while there would be scraps of food laying on the ground from where someone had dropped their trash bag ... my dog found these morsels to be tempting tasty snacks during our run and insisted on stopping. HONESTLY DOG - who does that?!?

I would even try to kick some of the snacks out of the way and she would still find them and eat them ... to my knowledge she ate two half sandwiches, some crackers, something unidentifiable and licked an ice cream wrapper!!

The biggest question of this entire experience is why someone wouldn't clean up the food they spilled on the sidewalk/road....

  • It's raining and I am bored ...

When it starts raining outside and you get tired of just sitting around and you finished your book already what are you supposed to do with all your free time?

Well today was a good day to find the answer to that question ... Coco and I decided that the best solution to the boredom was to start a home improvement project (I think I am taking lessons from Colleen and Nols). Coco and I tackled the kitchen - taking down the wallpaper that has been up since the 1970's is quite the challenge but it is quality sister time.

We have created quite the mess ... oh well! Next step .... paint!

  • New Car

Today I took a big step into adulthood ... I bought my own car!

As most of you know I was hoping to buy a car this summer I had no intention of actually making a purchase this early. I knew that I liked small SUVs similar to the size of liberty or Xterra. And I also knew that I wanted a 4x4, of course there were other things I was hoping I would find in a car but I wasn't sold on anything. My dad and I had seen this car back at Easter and happened to notice it was still on the lot. So last night Mom and I went to look at it again and ended up test driving it. It was wonderful .... obviously! The car is a 2006 Jeep Liberty with 22, 000 miles on it. It is red and looks practically brand new! So today we went back and I bought the car. It was a little intimidating to make such a large purchase but the payments are reasonable and the car is everything I could have hoped for. So goodbye old Buick and my dad is thrilled to have his truck back (well we will still be taking it camping this week)!  The only thing left to do is name the car ... any suggestions?DSCN3472 DSCN3471

Sorry Nols but I am not sure that I am quite ready to take it exploring but as soon as I am I will let you know! :)

On a slightly different note - no updates for at least a week because I will be back home in Bass Lake to go camping with my sisters and some friends!
